Over the years at Huckletree, I’ve learned that hiring the right people is the single most important contributor to success. The people who truly stand out and who have the ability to help leadership drive companies forward are those who are decisive, who work fast, who are resourceful, accountable and, most importantly, who bring good energy. The beauty of it is that these traits aren’t limited to the most experienced; they can’t be found in entry-level talent just as much as they can at C-Suite.

I see the above list as essential, not just nice to haves. I haven’t always got this right over the years, and it’s true that even a perfect interview process can’t give you complete certainty. But if there was a recipe for hiring success, or a mould of the type of person that elevates the people around them and, by virtue of that, the whole company, this would be it.
